Two of the Middle East’s biggest names in entertainment have joined forces.
O3 Productions, the production arm of regional broadcasting giant MBC Group, has signed a film and TV partnership with film production house Image Nation Abu Dhabi.
Announced on Tuesday, the first project from the two will be the Arabic-language feature film adaptation of Ibraheem Abbas’ sci-fi novel HWJN, which O3 and Image Nation will co-produce and co-finance, while three TV series are also in the works.
“We are delighted with our collaboration with Image Nation Abu Dhabi, thus integrating our efforts, expertise and production vision, which will ultimately contribute to uplifting and enhancing the artistic direction and production value of Gulf dramas in general and Saudi dramas in particular,” said Fadi Ismail, group director of 03 Productions.
Added Ben Ross, head of narrative film and television at Image Nation: “The new strategic partnership between Image Nation and MBC is a further indication of our shared commitment to producing high-quality Arab-language film and television for the Arab world.”
Image Nation, which has invested in major titles such as Men in Black 3, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Keeping Up With the Joneses thanks to relationships with producers Hyde Park and Parkes/MacDonald, has fully financed the upcoming adaptation of Dave Eggers‘ novel The Circle, starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks.
