NickelodeonPaul Robinson, the exec who co-founded and ran NBCUniversal’s international children’s channel KidsCo through 2011, has joined German group Your Family Entertainment (YFE) and will head up plans to take the Munich-based kids brand global.
YFE has operated its children’s pay TV channel yourfamily in German-speaking Europe since 2007 and added RiC, a free-to-air satellite channel, in 2012. Robinson sees space in the international market for a new kids channel following KidsCo’s recent closure by NBCUniversal and Corus.
“Your Family Entertainment was a content supplier to KidsCo and shares similar values and attributes,” Robinson said. “There is a gap in the market now that KidsCo has disappeared and YFE is best placed to fill that gap for platforms. I look forward to helping to roll out YFE’s channels internationally.”
At its peak under Robinson, KidsCo was available in 18 languages in 98 countries worldwide.
