Fox’s broadcast of the Miss Universe pageant was fairly steady Sunday, and football gave a lift to CBS and NBC.
The Miss Universe competition drew a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49 for Fox, even with the 2017 pageant (which aired in late November). It was down a little bit in viewers, averaging 4.19 million people vs. 4.46 million a year ago.
An NFL game that bled into primetime teed up strong numbers for 60 Minutes on CBS. The newsmagazine is currently at a 2.4 in the demo, which would be a season high if it holds in the finals. God Friended Me (1.0) and NCIS: Los Angeles (0.9) are both in line with their most recent post-NFL outings; a repeat of FBI closed out the night.
Sunday Night Football continued its year-over-year improvements in preliminary ratings. The Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Los Angeles Rams drew a 12.5 household rating in metered markets, up slightly from 12.3 for the same week in 2017. SNF has improved year to year in 12 of its last 15 games, including Thanksgiving.
ABC’s annual showing of The Sound of Music drew a 0.7 in the 18-49 demo and 4.2 million viewers, off a bit from 0.8 and 4.56 million last year. The CW got a 0.2 from the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball and 0.1 from the special Discontinued.
NBC easily led the night with a 4.1 rating in adults 18-49, pending updates. CBS is second at 2.0, also pending updates. Fox averaged 1.1, ABC 0.7 and The CW 0.2.
