A character death on Modern Family gave the show a ratings boost Wednesday night. ABC’s other comedies also improved, while Game 2 of the World Series declined.
Modern Family earned a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49, best among scripted shows for the night and up from 1.3 a week ago. All four ABC comedies had their best showing since premiere week, with The Goldbergs (1.3) and Single Parents (1.1) each improving by two-tenths of a point and American Housewife (1.1) rising a tenth. Drama A Million Little Things held at 0.8.
Fox’s World Series coverage posted a 9.9 household rating in metered markets, down a tiny bit from 10.0 for Game 1 and off 10 percent from 2017’s second game (11.0).
Survivor (1.4), SEAL Team (0.8) and Criminal Minds (0.7) all equaled their week-ago ratings on CBS. At NBC, Chicago Med (1.3) and Chicago P.D. (1.2) were up a bit, and Chicago Fire held steady at 1.3.
Riverdale (0.5) and All American (0.3) ticked up a tenth of a point each. All American‘s 0.3 is its best mark so far.
Fox led the night with a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49, pending updates for its live World Series broadcast. NBC’s 1.3 was good enough for second, followed by ABC, 1.1, and CBS, 1.0. The CW drew a 0.4.
In the final ratings, the World Series averaged 13.46 million viewers and a 3.3 rating in adults 18-49. Over two games the series is down about 13 percent vs. 2017.
