MTV continues bolstering its slate of digital content with a second season of workplace comedy Fast Food Heights.
The six-episode season, starring Nicole Byer (Girl Code) and YouTube star Jimmy Wong, will premiere May 14 on digital platform MTV Other. New episodes of the comedy from writer-director Greg Tuculescu will roll out every Wednesday through June 18.
Joining Fast Food Heights on the network is animation franchise Liquid Television. Based on the original series that aired on MTV from 1989 to 1991, Liquid Television features a collection of animated shorts from executive producer Chris Prynoski. The first of five new episodes will be available on MTV Other, the MTV app, Xbox, Facebook and YouTube starting May 15.
The Liquid Television premiere will coincide with the release of three new shorts of Eyevis from animator Dave Johnson.
“Fast Food Heights and Liquid Television are two great examples of our ‘lab’ approach to developing comedy and animation talent — the former a successful comedy series that we’re looking to grow in it’s second cycle, the latter a reimagined version of an iconic television series tapping into some of the best animation talent around today,” said Colin Helms, MTV’s senior vp connected content.
MTV launched MTV Other in 2013 as a home for niche original web series and clips. Other series on the platform include comedian Esther Povitsky‘s Esther With Hot Chicks, comedy Inside Joke from Daily Show correspondent Michael Che and Two Guys Named Josh, starring Kate Riley and Fran Gillespie.
“MTV Other is a content lab that allows us to work with rising talent — from writers and actors to animators and directors — and to test new approaches to content development, be it shortform, longform or new formats that haven’t been invented yet,” said Helms. “We’re actively testing these series across many different platforms and looking to build fan bases and see where they take us.”
