It was just a small example in Greg Smith’s resignation letter indictment of Goldman Sachs, but the accusation that the unpopular Wall Street firm called unknowing clients “muppets” was singled out by an internet that thrives on silly.
Now, the reference to muppet clients has made the web rounds, from sarcastic tweets to blog posts to officially being a meme, thanks to a new video on Funny or Die.
Actors Neil McDonough and Kyle MacLauchlan put together the unsanctioned response from the puppets, both alien-like and humanoid (one looking much like genial Muppets TV host, Guy Smiley). They’re quite educated on the issues facing the economy and the schemes that enriched the Wall Street hedge firms (also, they love pudding), but whether that helps them beat the fiscal Masters of the Universe — you’ll just have to watch and find out.
