NBC has handed out a script commitment for The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, a single-camera comedy from Justin Spitzer, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Spitzer, who spent six seasons on NBC’s The Office and is currently serving as a co-executive producer on Fox’s Mulaney, will pen the script for the single-camera comedy about a disparate group of employees working at a big-box store in Middle America and the love stories that will ultimately unfold among them.
Spitzer will also executive produce alongside Enlightened’s David Bernad and Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer, the latter of whom will direct should the script move to pilot. The comedy hails from Universal Television, where both Spitzer and Fleischer are under overall deals.
Spitzer, who also has The Money Pit remake in the works at NBC, is repped by UTA and Morris Yorn; Fleischer is with UTA and Sloane Offer.
