It’s a good day to be Darlene Hunt.
The writer-creator of Showtime’s cancer dramedy The Big C has sold a comedy script to NBC based on Martin Kihn’s book Bad Dog.
The news comes the same day that the cable network renewed Hunt and Big C producers Neal Moritz and Vivian Cannon’s Laura Linney starrer for a third season.
STORY: ‘The Big C’ Gets Third Season From Showtime
Bad Dog, first published in April, revolves around Marty, a functioning alcoholic and TV writer-turned-management consultant whose marriage depends on his ability to control his dog Hola.
Moritz and Cannon will produce the project, from Sony Pictures Television. The duo, via their Original Film shingle and SPT, also have a comedy based on the book How to Con Your Kid set up at ABC with Happy Endings scribe Prentice Penny attached.
Showtime ordered 10 episodes of The Big C for a third season bow next year.
