NBC’s experimental anthology series, Love Bites, won’t be returning for Season 2.
An NBC spokesperson confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that Love Bites is airing its last episode on Thursday at 10 p.m.
Love Bites, which has been plagued by multiple production and casting issues, was originally scheduled to premiere last fall. It ended up debuting last month as a summer series to weak ratings – About 2.5 million people tuned in to the premiere episode. Since then, it has been able to retain about 2 million viewers per episode. Yet, even reruns of its lead in show, 30 Rock, did consistently better numbers than the series.

The series stars regulars Becki Newton, Greg Grunberg, and Constance Zimmer. It also featured several guest stars in its vignettes about love including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ben Feldman, and Michelle Trachtenberg.
Sex and the City’s Cindy Chupack created the series and stepped down from executive producer to a consulting producer position during production. Marc Buckland (My Name Is Earl) served as an executive producer, joined by executive producers Tracy Poust, Jon Kinnally, and Eric Fellner.
Universal Media Studios and Working Title Television produced the series.
Update: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the series will not complete its nine-episode run. As of Thursday, all nine episodes will have made air — they didn’t run in the order they were numbered.
