Another high-ranking executive is out at Netflix.
Head of comedy Jane Wiseman has departed the streamer. Wiseman, who had served as vp originals at Netflix, had been with the company for six years.
“I’m grateful for all that Jane has contributed during her six-plus years at Netflix, from building a talented creative team to bringing our members such successful series as Grace and Frankie, Ozark, Dead to Me and our adult animation slate,” newly appointed Global TV vp Bela Bajaria said in a statement late Thursday. “We wish her well for the future.”
Wiseman’s departure arrives days after another vp originals, Channing Dungey, left Netflix. The former ABC Entertainment president is expected to land a senior role at Warner Bros. TV, where she will fill the void created by Susan Rovner’s departure for NBCUniversal.
Wiseman is the latest senior Netflix scripted executive to depart after Bajaria was promoted over vp originals Cindy Holland. Holland, who transformed Netflix from a DVD-by-mail company into a player for high-end scripted originals, had been with the streamer for nearly two decades.
Additional changes at Netflix are expected as Bajaria, sources say, is in the midst of setting her own leadership team and restructuring the streamer while also reviewing — and trimming — its roster of originals.
