The Media Rights Capital produced political thriller, which was acquired straight to series for a staggering 26 hour-long episodes, has added three more premium cable voices to its roster: John Melfi, Rick Cleveland and Sarah Treem.
They will join David Fincher, who will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer, along with Eric Roth (Forest Gump), Josh Donen (Spartacus: Blood and Sand), star Kevin Spacey, his Trigger Street Productions partner Dana Brunetti and Andrew Davies and Michael Dobbs, who produced the original BBC series. Beau Willimon (The Ides of March) wrote the pilot and will act as a co-executive producer on Netflix’s bid to compete with the programming players as well as distribute their fare.
Melfi will serve as an executive producer on the project, which is based on the book and British miniseries of the same name. He brings with him a decade-plus worth of experience at HBO, where he was involved in such series as Sex and the City, From the Earth to the Moon and Rome.
For his part, Cleveland will serve as a co-executive producer on the anticipated project. The Emmy winning writer/producer, whose credits include NBC’s The West Wing, HBO’s Six Feet Under, AMC’s Mad Men and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, is currently writing a mini-series for HBO about the life of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Treem, who has written and produced all three season of HBO’s In Treatment, will join him as a co-executive producer. The How to Make it in America writer/producer is currently adapting Samantha Peale‘s novel, The American Painter Emma Dial for HBO with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Emily Ziff.
Melfi and Treem are repped by WME; Cleveland is repped by CAA.
