Netflix is getting into business with Nick Kroll.
The streaming giant has ordered to series Big Mouth, a 10-episode animated comedy from real-life best friends Kroll (Kroll Show, The League) and Andrew Goldberg (Family Guy) that will premiere in 2017. The half-hour, described as “edgy and surreal,” will explore teenaged adventures in puberty.
Saturday Night Live veteran and standup John Mulaney will voice the character of Andrew, while Kroll will voice Nick. Among the other comedians lending their voices to the series in some capacity: Maya Rudolph (Maya & Marty, Bridesmaids), Jason Mantzoukas (The League, Lady Dynamite), Jordan Peele (Keanu, Key and Peele), Fred Armisen (Portlandia, Documentary Now!), Jenny Slate (Girls, Lady Dynamite) and Jessi Klein (Inside Amy Schumer).

Big Mouth was created by Kroll and Goldberg, along with screenwriter-directors Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett (Little Manhattan). All four will serve as executive producers on the series, which is a Netflix production.
“There are few things that keep me up at night. Nick Kroll’s adventures in puberty is one of them, so we greenlit this series with very few questions asked,” Netflix vp original content Cindy Holland said Monday in a statement.
Added Kroll: “Andrew and I have been best friends since 1st grade, so this show is over 30 years in the making. I can’t wait to tell all the stories that make up the glorious nightmare of puberty.”
Kroll created and starred on Comedy Central’s Kroll Show, which wrapped last year. He also co-starred on FX’s The League. He will be seen next in Jeff Nichols’ upcoming feature Loving, which garnered buzz in May at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as New Line’s The House. Kroll also will appear in Seth Rogen’s Sausage Party, Illumination’s Sing and DreamWorks’ Captain Underpants. He recently completed his nationally sold-out tour and off-Broadway run of Oh, Hello, which he co-created, co-wrote and starred in alongside Mulaney.
For his part, Goldberg is a writer-producer who began his career on Fox’s Family Guy, where he rose to the rank of co-executive producer. His feature script The Wedding for CBS Films appeared on the 2011 Black List.
