The pic was originally slated for a Jan. 4 release and was set to be the sophomore feature from studio label Paramount Players.
Eli, from director Ciaran Foy (Sinister 2), tells the story of a secluded clinic where a boy with a rare disease is being treated. Soon, the clinic becomes a haunted prison without a way out. David Chirchirillo penned the script, which made the 2015 Black List.
Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink, Kelly Reilly, Max Martini, Lili Taylor and Charlie Shotwell star in the movie, which Netflix will release in 2019.
The Eli pickup comes after the streamer has acquired several other soon-to-be-released studio projects, including Paramount’s The Cloverfield Paradox, Universal’s sci-fi feature Extinction and WB’s long-delayed Jungle Book adaptation Mowgli.
