LONDON – Classic British comedy series Men Behaving Badly, Emmy winning drama The Naked Civil Servant and Australian crime drama The Strip are among the titles Netflix will offer in the U.K. and Ireland.
The streaming video service has struck a deal with FremantleMedia Enterprises for a slew of comedy and drama content for its recently-launched service here.
“Having previously partnered with Netflix in the U.S. and Latin America, we are thrilled to now be working with the world’s leading subscription service in the U.K. as well,” said FME svp sales, U.K., Ireland and Scandinavia. “The deal with Netflix is a great example of how we are distributing our diverse catalogue of content through multiple platforms to increase our global audience reach and revenue streams.”
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said the deal with Fremantle indicates the company’s international expansion plans.
“FremantleMedia Enterprises shows have proven popular with Netflix members around the world and we are sure our U.K. and Ireland subscribers will enjoy them as well,” Sarandos said.
Netflix has acquired 115 hours of FME’s catalog while Netflix members in the U.K. and Ireland will be able to watch the exclusive U.K. premiere of Satisfaction, the Australian drama about five high-class escorts and their manager as they juggle the pressures of their private lives with their secret profession.
