J.C. Chandor‘s critically acclaimed 1981-set drama A Most Violent Year, starring Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac; My Best Friend’s Wedding; Unforgiven; and R.J. Cutler‘s movie version of Gayle Forman‘s best-selling novel If I Stay, starring Chloe Grace Moretz, are just some of the high-profile movies that will be available for streaming to Amazon Prime Instant Video subscribers this August.
Prime members will also be able to stream 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and documentary Misery Loves Comedy, featuring Amy Schumer, Judd Apatow, Kevin Smith and Larry David.

On the TV side, Amazon will debut all 13 episodes of its original animated kids’ series Wishenpoof, about a girl who solves life’s problems in her own creative ways. And Prime subscribers who don’t get HBO can stream all eight seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm (and wait for the new episodes HBO programming president Michael Lombardo indicated this week may be coming).
Amazon Instant Video, meanwhile, will allow people to rent a number of indie films starting the same day or shortly after they hit select theaters, including the Charlize Theron-starring movie adaptation of Gillian Flynn‘s Dark Places; the Kevin Bacon starrer Cop Car, directed by upcoming Spider-Man reboot director Jon Watts; well-reviewed Sundance title People, Places and Things, starring Jemaine Clement, Jessica Williams and Regina Hall; and the Patrick Wilson starrer Zipper. Other movies coming to Amazon Instant Video next month include college-rape documentary The Hunting Ground and high-profile April and May movies Mad Max: Fury Road, The Age of Adaline and The D Train. On the TV side, the fourth seasons of Homeland, Episodes and The Killing will hit Amazon Instant Video along with the full first season of The Knick and full third season of House of Cards.
