The trio behind Jim Carrey‘s Yes Man is reuniting.
Nick Stoller, Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul have sold half-hour comedy The Grinder to Fox. The single-camera entry, from sister studio 20th Century Fox Television, will center on two brothers.
Mogel and Paul will write the pilot as well as executive produce, while Stoller is set to serve as a nonwriting executive producer and, potentially, a director.
The move reteams Mogel and Paul with the network that aired their short-lived 2011 animated series Allen Gregory, which they co-created with star Jonah Hill. More recently, the duo wrote and directed forthcoming Jack Black–James Marsden film The D Train, which Mike White is producing.
Stoller, whose big break came from writing on the Fox comedy Undeclared, has been far more active on the film side in recent years. His latest directorial effort, Neighbors, starring Zac Efron, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, generated more than $250 million at the box office this year. (Sex Tape, which Stoller wrote for stars Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, didn’t fare as well, earning only $120 million globally.)
Mogel and Paul are repped by UTA, Mosaic and Ziffren Brittenham; Stoller, whose other credits include Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Muppets and sequel Muppets Most Wanted, is repped by UTA and attorney Bryan Wolf of Ziffren Brittenham.
