Nielsen took a look at which new fall shows scored the highest “viewer engagement” and CBS’ Mike & Molly came out on top.
“Engagement” studies how much information a viewer recalls from a show, something that’s important to advertisers who want to put their products on programs where viewers are paying close attention. It’s a bit surprising a traditional sitcom would lead the pack, one would expect NBC’s twisty The Event (ranked in a three-way tie for second place), or ABC’s No Ordinary Family (ranked third) would beat it.
Nielsen noted that Molly was followed by Raising Hope and Running Wilde, suggesting new comedies may be showing better engagement than dramas. if that’s the case, CBS’ $#*! My Dad Says is notably absent.
