BBC America just released the first promo for its latest original series, No Kitchen Required.
Three chefs are pitted against one another in remote locales, where they’re challenged to cook native cuisine. The competitors are forced to hunt and gather their own ingredients. The first look from the network reveals that they have to do it all with just a knife.
No Kitchen‘s 10-episode freshman run stars New York restaurateur Michael Psilakis, Chopped champ Madison Cowan and New Zealand chef Kayne Raymond, with BBC’s Shini Somara serving as host.
Although the series comes from the creators of Chopped, that shouldn’t give Cowan any sort of advantage. That Food Network competition has yet to include underwater river-fishing, cliff-scaling or helicopter drops in its challenges.
The episode highlighted in the promo finds the trio cooking Mayan cuisine in the Belize jungle, but the first season also takes them to Dominica, New Zealand, Thailand and Fiji — and less exotic U.S. spots including the Louisiana bayou, New Mexico, Florida and Hawaii.
