UPDATE: Once Upon a Time has also cast Frozen‘s Prince Hans.
Once Upon a Time has added John Rhys-Davies to its cast in yet another Frozen role.
The Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones actor has joined the season-four ensemble in the voice role of the CG version of Pabbie the Troll King, who rules the Valley of the Living Rock, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. As in Frozen, Pabbie is “gentle, wise and the source of unexpected insight.”

Executive producer Adam Horowitz announced the news via Twitter on Monday.
We’re thrilled to welcome John Rhys-Davies to the #OnceUponATime family as the voice of everyone’s favorite rock troll — Pabbie! #ThisFall!

Rhys-Davies’ character is currently in one episode, but potentially may be featured in several more.

The news comes two days after ABC’s fairy-tale drama debuted the first footage of Frozen sisters Anna (Elizabeth Lail) and Elsa (Georgina Haig) in the season-four premiere, “A Tale of Two Sisters.” Other Frozen characters making their debut are Prince Hans and Kristoff (Scott Michael Foster), with Elizabeth Mitchell also playing an unknown related role, though Olaf will reportedly not appear.
Horowitz told THR in May that they were “honored” to incorporate the Frozen universe into Once. “We fell in love with [the movie] when it came out last year like everyone did, and we want to do our best to do it justice,” he said at the time.
Rhys-Davies is repped by Wes Stevens at VOX and managers Jeff Goldberg and Louisa Spring.
