Oprah Winfrey is going door to door to get Georgia voters to go to the polls on Tuesday.
The media mogul, who made a rare campaign appearance for Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams on Thursday, is continuing to canvas for the politician days before the state election on Nov. 6.
In an effort to get people to vote for Abrams, who is running against the Trump-endorsed Republican Brian Kemp, Winfrey canvassed door-to-door in the suburbs of Georgia. In a videos shared on Thursday via Winfrey and Abrams’ Instagram pages, the TV host is seen literally knocking on the front door and surprising a woman named Denise, an Abrams supporter who also happens to be a huge fan of Winfrey’s
“I am shocked!” Denise says when she opens the door for Winfrey. “I’m canvassing for Stacey Abrams. Are you voting for her?” Winfrey asks, to which Denise enthusiastically responds, “I absolutely am.”
Winfrey then asks Denise if she has an early voting plan (she does) before adding, “Are you interesting in helping her campaign by either canvassing or making phone calls?”
To Winfrey’s delight, Denise reveals that she’s already been involved in more ways than one: by canvassing throughout her neighborhood, participating in early voting drives and volunteering at phone banks during her lunch break.
“There you go, that was so easy. She has an early voting plan!” Winfrey tells the camera before taking a photo with Denise, who tells the OWN CEO, “I’ve been waiting all my life to meet you!”

Abrams expressed her appreciation for Winfrey’s support on Instagram. “Earlier today, super-canvasser Oprah knocked on super-voter Denise’s door! Denise already has a plan to vote early and volunteer hard to push us to victory in 4 days,” Abrams wrote. “What’s your plan to help #TeamAbramslead Georgia forward?”

Abrams is locked in a tight race with Kemp as she tries to become the nation’s first black female governor. In Winfrey’s rousing Thursday speech, the media mogul revealed why she felt the need to publicly voice her support for Abrams. “I was just sitting at home in California minding my own business when I could not stop thinking about what’s going on down here,” she said in part.
Added Winfrey: “Stacey Abrams’ values are in alignment with the consciousness in which our democracy has been founded. The very foundation of our democracy is to think about other people — to live a life in service to others. Democracy is not just about our individual rights and concerns and our individual protections, but rather it lives and thrives in making sure that everybody is lifted by the community.”
More than 1.5 million Georgians have already cast their ballots. Vice President Mike Pence visited Georgia on Thursday, where he campaigned for Kemp. President Trump will also visit the state this weekend, while former POTUS Barack Obama will campaign for Abrams in Georgia on Friday.
