When Whitney Houston launched her would-be career comeback in 2009, she opted to give a candid, lengthy interview to fellow icon Oprah Winfrey.
During the course of their one-on-one, the singer admitted to using both cocaine and marijuana while married to Bobby Brown. It was Houston’s last major TV interview before she more or less drifted out of the spotlight again, her voice ravaged by past drug use.

In the wake of the tragic news of her death on Saturday, Winfrey will re-air that sitdown on her OWN network during a two-hour special to air Thursday at 9 p.m. ET. The talk-show queen will also give her memories of Houston, and share with viewers “the magic of a musical icon who has gone too soon,” according to the network.
Houston died Saturday at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles at the age of 48. An autopsy has been completed but the results were not revealed, pending a toxicology report.
