Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany has jumped aboard the Captain Canuck animated web series.
The star of the BBC America sci-fi drama will take an unspecified voicing role in the five-episode online series from Captain Canuck INC and animation partner Smiley Guy Studios.
“We were really looking for a very specific quality for this role. It carries a lot of weight and strength, and Tatiana delivers that in spades,” said Paul Gardner, creative director, in a statement Monday.
The animated adaptation of the iconic Captain superhero earlier booked another local sci-fi series star, Laura Vandervoot of CTV’s Bitten.
Other earlier casting includes Kris Holden-Reid voicing the Captain, while archrival Mr. Gold will be voiced by Paul Amos (Lost Girl).
The web series production follows Mind’s Eye Entertainment developing a live-action feature film adaptation based on the Captain Canuck comic book series.
Arne Olsen, whose screen credits include Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and Cop and a Half, is penning the movie script.
No word on which Canadian actor will don head-to-toe figure-hugging rubber to play the Captain Canuck character.
