A follow up to the star’s Emmy-nominated documentary, Becoming Chaz, the one-hour special shows Bono and his girlfriend, Jennifer Elia, after his transition from a woman to a man. It also captures the drama as Bono prepares to debut on Dancing with the Stars and the controversy that attracted.
World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, the executive producers of Becoming Chaz, return as EPs for the special with director and co-EP Elise Duran.
Becoming Chaz was the first selection in the OWN Documentary Club. Its May premiere attracted an average of 705,000 viewers, ranked fifth in its time period for ad-supported cable channels, and gave the network a 162% increase in key demos versus the year before when it was known as Discovery Health.

After Being Chaz, OWN also premieres the documentary special, I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition at 9 p.m. It follows Jazz, who is facing a big life decision as puberty hits that will affect the 11-year-old’s gender identity. Jen Stocks directs the special, which was executive produced by Bill Hayes, Kirk Streb, Wayne Mahon and Mark Gottwald of Figure 8 Films.
