NEW YORK – OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, the cable channel joint venture of Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications, on Monday unveiled three new original reality series and its premiere weekend and regular schedules for the channel, which debuts at noon on Jan. 1.
The three new original series are The Judds, which follows country music legends Naomi and Wynonna Judd as they prepare for their first tour together in 10 years, Carson-Nation with fashion and design expert Carson Kressley who travels to small towns to transform lives, and Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals, in which the father and daughter acting dynasty looks to reclaim their relationship after being estranged for over 25 years.
OWN also said Monday that it will be the exclusive home of the Best of Dr. Phil, showcasing the first off-broadcast exhibition of the popular daily syndicated talk show “Dr. Phil,” hosted by psychologist and lifestyle strategist Dr. Phil McGraw.
In addition, OWN will also be premiering in the U.S. Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag, in which the twosome reviews recipes and put cookbooks to the test. Plus, hit decorating show Trading Spaces is also joining OWN’s weekday line-up.
OWN will include “original series and specials, all focused on entertaining, informing and inspiring people to live their best lives,” the network said. “During our launch weekend, the audience will see a little of everything OWN has to offer,” said CEO Christina Norman. “Oprah as they’ve never seen her in Season 25: Oprah Behind The Scenes, expert advice from Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Suze Orman to get their year started right on Ask Oprah’s All-Stars, and sneak peeks at the kinds of shows we believe really fulfill our mission to be entertaining and inspiring.”
The launch weekend will present sneak peeks at key shows. For example, Jay Z and Diane Sawyer will be the featured stars in the premiere weekend’s editions of show Oprah Presents Master Class.
Meanwhile, OWN has launched Your OWN Channel, an online destination designed for viewers where they can upload questions for Dr. Phil, Suze Orman and Dr. Oz for the four-part primetime special Ask Oprah’s All-Stars, scheduled to premiere Sun, Jan. 2 in the 8-10pm time slot.
The regular OWN schedule includes these week-day shows: 3pm Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag, 3:30 pm Cristina’s Big Bowl of Love, 4pm Trading Spaces, 7pm Best Of Dr. Phil.
