NEW YORK – Viewership for Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes on OWN declined last week as the show moved from Friday to Sunday, but the move gave the network improved ratings in the new time slot when compared to the previous week, the New York Times reported.
The reality show about the final season of The Oprah Winfrey Show had previously aired on Friday nights, drawing an average of 443,000 viewers for its first 10 weeks, the paper said.
OWN, a joint venture of Winfrey and Discovery Communications, moved the show to a new time slot – 8pm ET – on Sunday, a more competitive night for TV networks. The show’s latest episode, the first on the new night, attracted an average of 372,000 viewers, according to the Times. In the same time period one week earlier, a repeat of Behind the Scenes averaged only 146,000 viewers though, it added.
Winfrey took to Twitter on Sunday to promote her channel’s new Sunday lineup, quickly starting the No. 1 trending topic: #OprahLiveTweet.
OWN’s audience performance on Sunday built during the evening, the Times said, pointing out that In the 9pm hour, which featured a new episode of Master Class, the network had an average of 474,000 viewers.
