"The pressure brings out more creativity for a lot of our chefs," Padma Lakshmi says. "I think that pressure is also very revealing about what kind of person that chef is. Sometimes, they'll push themselves too far. They will take on more than they can actually execute, given the time constraints and the budget."

Top Chef fans hungry for another helping of the hit Bravo reality series won’t have long to wait.
The cable net has announced that the upcoming season, set in the culinary paradise known as New Orleans, will begin airing on Wed., Oct. 2 at 10 p.m. Back again to judge are Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Hugh Acheson, and New Orleans native Emeril Lagasse, alongside host Padma Lakshmi.
Once again, a digital companion series will affect the on-screen drama — just as it does on the currently airing Top Chef Masters and its Battle of the Sous Chef web show.
Padma’s Picks will feature Lakshmi visiting some of New Orleans best restaurants to find ten of the best chefs in the city. Those chefs will battle head-to-head, and the competition winner will earn a coveted spot on Top Chef New Orleans.
Padma’s Picks begins streaming on Wed., Aug. 14, on BravoTV.com.
