Pamela Adlon Expresses “Deep Sorrow” After Louis C.K. Sexual Misconduct Admission

Pamela Adlon has spoken out after Louis C.K.’s Friday admission of sexual misconduct with multiple women. 

His longtime collaborator released the following brief statement through FX: “Hi. I’m here. I have to say something. It’s so important. My family and I are devastated and in shock after the admission of abhorrent behavior by my friend and partner, Louis C.K. I feel deep sorrow and empathy for the women who have come forward. I am asking for privacy at this time for myself and my family. I am processing and grieving and hope to say more as soon as I am able.”

It’s not exactly a breaking of silence, considering the whiplash-inducing speed with which The New York Times‘ Thursday exposé on C.K. masturbating in front of five women dismantled his career in just 24 hours. But Adlon’s is the most prominent voice that’s been missing from the discussion.

C.K. and Adlon collaborated for over a decade, most recently on Adlon’s critical darling Better Things — where C.K. was an active executive producer and writer until FX severed all ties with the comedian earlier on Friday. The pair worked together on multiple projects. In 2006, she starred as his wife in the short-lived HBO sitcom Lucky Louie. Adlon also appeared in his FX comedy Louie, where she served as a writer and producer.

Just days before the allegations about C.K. were made formal by the Times piece, Adlon spoke about the long-gestating rumors of misconduct in an interview with KCRW’s The Business conducted by The Hollywood Reporter editor-at-large Kim Masters. “It hurts to read about things that people are saying about him,” said Adlon. “All I know is that, I know about him as being my partner on a show that is the opposite of any of this kind of horrible, negative things.”
