Pamela Adlon has dropped 3 Arts manager Dave Becky, sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The move comes after her longtime friend and collaborator Louis C.K. admitted on Friday to masturbating in front of multiple women without their consent. Two of the women, Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, told The New York Times that after C.K. exposed himself to them in an Aspen, Colorado, hotel room in 2002, they felt threatened by Becky, who also represented C.K., from sharing their story further.
Adlon wrote for and recurred on C.K.’s acclaimed FX comedy Louie before creating with C.K. her own starring vehicle, Better Things, which they executive produced alongside Becky. On Friday, Adlon issued a brief statement in which she said she was “devastated and in shock after the admission of abhorrent behavior” by C.K., whom she called her friend and partner. “I am processing and grieving and hope to say more as soon as I am able,” Adlon added.
3 Arts dropped C.K. as a client on Friday afternoon. Earlier on Monday, Becky issued a statement apologizing for misunderstanding Goodman and Wolov’s reports and for giving the impression that he was threatening them.
“At the time I heard the story third-hand, and I interpreted the conversation as two women telling a story about a sexual encounter with a then-married Louis,” Becky wrote. “My intent was to seek discretion to protect what I thought was a matter of infidelity. I now comprehend that my response was perceived as a threat to cover up sexual misconduct. … What I did was wrong, and again, I am extremely sorry.”
