Curious about the time all of Pawnee was on fire? Rest assured, NBCUniversal and Hyperion Books will have the entire story in Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America, a 240-page Parks and Recreation book.
Written from the perspective of Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope, the book is due in stores Oct. 4 and will provide all the research and comical insights into the Midwestern town featured on the NBC series.
Chapters will explore the fictional town’s history and expand on events that were hinted at on the NBC comedy, which was renewed for a fourth season in March.
“The ever-expanding town of Pawnee has become its own character in our show, and we’re thrilled that we got to accelerate that expansion in one giant, goofy 240-page comedy book,” said Mike Schur, co-creator and executive producer. “It’s a complete portrait of Everytown, USA, which ever reader – whether a fan of the show or a newbie – can enjoy.”
Hyperion Books editor Matt Inman noted that the book will be written by the show’s writers and characters and that “both Parks and Recreation and Amy Poehler fans will love it.”
Pottinger Nichols, the literary licensing agency for NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group, brokered the deal.
Parks and Recreation returns in the fall.
