The series’ director, Ben Stiller, presented the award to the actress, who went on to declare her admiration for him, shouting, “I love Ben Stiller” as soon as she took to the stage.
During her acceptance speech, Arquette was quick to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for “championing filmmakers from all over the world and championing our work.” She further added, “no matter what language you speak, you need no translation for what we do.”
The actress also thanked her fellow nominees, who she is “inspired by all the time.”
In the series, Arquette plays former prison employee Tilly Mitchell and undergoes a transformation process for the role, including wearing fake teeth. Arquette quipped, “How many fucked-up teeth do you need?”
Backstage Arquette apologized for her F-bomb moment. “It was an unplanned F-bomb. I am very sorry. This is a very elegant occasion,” the actress said.
Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg are hosting the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards, which took place at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
