Paul Ryan, an actor, producer and TV host, died Thursday of leukemia at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. He was 69.
Ryan, who served as a Hollywood correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, recently hosted the Here TV series Legends From Here, which featured interviews with Rock Hudson, Shelley Winters and Kylie Minogue, among others.
He also hosted a “Celebrity Master Class” series for the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, interviewing the likes of Diahann Carroll, Burt Reynolds and George Hamilton, and had a business coaching and training people seeking to become actors and TV hosts.
Ryan’s work as an actor included small roles on such TV shows as Bewitched, Emergency!, Mission: Impossible, Night Court, Murder, She Wrote and Desperate Housewives and such films as Coma (1978) and The Promise (1979) and Star 80 (1983).
He produced A BraveHeart View for the Internet channel Conscious TV and wrote a book, The Art of Comedy: Getting Serious About Being Funny, published in 2007.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce. A memorial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries in the Hollywood Hills.
