Sherlock fans, mark your calendars.
PBS announced Saturday morning that Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, a 90-minute special, will premiere Jan. 1, 2016, on Masterpiece Mystery! on PBS at 9 p.m. ET (and simultaneously online at PBS.org/masterpiece). The special will have an encore broadcast Jan. 10 at 10 p.m. ET. This is the first time that Sherlock has premiered in the U.S. and the U.K. on the same day.
Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat’s Sherlock — which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman — will go into production on season four in spring 2016 after nearly a two-year drought between the season three finale and the upcoming 90-minute special. A premiere date has not yet specified for the new season.
