Pete Buttigieg is set to attend a July 24 fundraiser in Menlo Park, California to be hosted by Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.
The 37 year-old openly gay mayor of South Bend, Indiana and surging Democratic presidential hopeful will attend the event, billed as a “coffee and conversation” morning gathering, according to the invite, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The fundraiser will also be hosted by Laura Cornish and Caroline Crawford Labe. Buttigieg’s appearance comes as the 2020 U.S. presidential campaign contender does a swing across San Francisco and Silicon Valley for California money in competition with other Democratic Party contenders.
Buttigieg was in Los Angeles for a fundraiser on June 19 at the home of TV superproducer Ryan Murphy and husband David Miller after formally announcing his bid for the White House.
In April, Buttigieg also did fundraising rounds at the Beverly Hills office of Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and the home of former CAA agent Michael Kives for a meet-and-greet with, among others, CAA’s Richard Lovett, Untitled Entertainment’s Jason Weinberg, MGM’s Jon Glickman and wife Christy Callahan, and attorney Marcy Morris.
Buttigieg has had to compete for Hollywood money against other high-profile Democratic Party contenders like Kamala Harris and Cory Booker.
