TORONTO – Unsealed police documents on Wednesday revealed first-time details about the infamous Rob Ford crack cocaine videotape as they describe the Toronto mayor smoking from a glass pipe.
“At one point Mayor Ford holds the glass cylinder in his mouth, lights the lighter and applies the flame to the tip of the glass cylinder in a circular motion,” Toronto media lawyer Peter Jacobsen read from the official police document outside the court, according to CTV News website.
“After several seconds, Mayor Ford appears to inhale the vapor which is produced, then exhales the vapor,” the document adds about the one-minute video that was first revealed in March 2013 by the U.S. gossip website Gawker and the Toronto Star newspaper.
Jacobsen said the video ends with Ford looking over to a cell phone aimed in his direction.
“Mayor Ford appears to look into the recording device, then drops the glass cylinder on the table next to him. He briefly points at the camera and asks if it’s on,” he read from the document.
Ford late last year said he has consumed crack cocaine and other illicit drugs, an admission that touched off a media storm that ultimately led to his current global celebrity.
A Toronto judge on Wednesday ordered the release of the latest documents stemming from Project Brazen 2, a police investigation into the Toronto mayor and alleged underworld associates.
Toronto police had already been following a separate investigation into the city’s drug trade before learning of the infamous crack cocaine video.
