BET confirms that Pooch Hall will not be returning for the sixth season of The Game, two days after co-star Tia Mowry-Hardict announced her departure via Twitter.

“As a result of Pooch’s involvement on a new project, BET is in the process of reworking the casting and storyline of the show,” a statement released by BET said.
The Jumping the Broom actor’s plans are to join the cast of the new Showtime pilot Ray Donovan.
In spite of losing the show’s main actress and actor back to back, the network holds no hard feelings towards the stars.
“We hope both Pooch and Tia will make several guest appearances. While we miss the incredible adventures of Melanie and Derwin on The Game, we appreciate all of their hard work, the laughs and wish them both the best on their future endeavors,” the statement continues.
Hall starred as Derwin Davis in the Kelsey Grammer produced show that originated on The CW and was picked up by the BET network in 2011 for it’s 4th season after a two year hiatus.
The show, which has featured a long list of special guest appearances including Vivica A. Fox, Magic Johnson, Serena Williams and NeNe Leakes has been renewed for a sixth season and will proceed as scheduled.
Season six will continue to feature the remaining cast members Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez, Brandy Norwood and Barry A. Floyd.
