AMC’s upcoming spy drama Turn has already made one notable fan — former President George H. W. Bush.
The president and former first lady Barbara Bush hosted Turn executive producers and castmembers as well as several AMC executives for a private screening of this historical series Saturday.

“AMC put together a brilliant show, a fantastic cast, there’s one problem however, and that’s waiting till the next episode,” the president said.
Turn tells the true story of America’s first spy ring. It stars Jamie Bell as Long Island farmer Abe Woodhull, who along with a group of childhood friends, form The Culper Ring — a group of spies who work to aid George Washington in the fight for American independence.
Bush knows the spy business intimately. Before his time in the Oval Office, he served as CIA director from 1976-1977. He is the only president to have held the position.

“It was utterly fascinating to share the story of America’s first spy ring with President Bush, who knows firsthand from his days at the CIA, the danger these men and women faced as spies, and the sacrifices they made which ultimately ensured America’s freedom,” said AMC president Charlie Collier.
Turn premieres April 6 at 9 p.m. ET.
