After the youth vote helped catapult him to the Presidency in 2008, Barack Obama is kickstarting his effort to court the enthusiastic, volunteer-rich demographic once again.
NBC and the White House announced on Friday that Obama will appear as guest Tuesday on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the network’s hip, 12:35 a.m. program. And instead of taking place in the show’s usual New York City studio, the episode will shoot at the University of North Carolina, the top public institution in a crucial swing state.
Dave Matthews will appear as the musical guest on that night’s show.
Obama has made several appearances on The Tonight Show, most recently guesting on Jay Leno‘s older-skewing program back in October. First Lady Michelle Obama has been more more active on the late night circuit, having appeared on Leno’s show in January, Fallon’s show in February and The Colbert Report earlier this month.
Mitt Romney, who is at this point the presumptive GOP nominee for President, appeared on Leno in March.
