The first 10 minutes of the season three premiere of Pretty Little Liars has hit the web, thanks to a days-long puzzle hunt that culminated with the sneak peek.
[Warning: Some spoilers ahead.]
The season opens with Rosewood in the middle of a big thunderstorm (how appropriate) and the girls catching up on their eventful summers. Of course, it wouldn’t be the same without text messages from “A.”
The first one? “Show me your boobs. — A.”
It’s also the first time the girls see just how damaged Emily (Shay Mitchell) has become, with her incessant drinking and unfortunate circumstances.
When the girls wake up from their slumber, they discover Emily gone. Where did she go? She’s standing over Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) empty grave. That’s not even the scary part: She can’t remember a thing that happened that night.
Still drunk, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) helps Emily try to remember what went down — and they don’t get very far, except to discover that someone else was in the Hastings home, and used Spencer’s phone while she was sleeping to call Emily. Creepy.
Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Aria (Lucy Hale) bury the shovel in the woods after wiping off their prints. Who could be doing this to Emily, they wonder?
Meanwhile, Spencer and Emily powwow over the possible culprit. “There has to be someone else, someone we don’t know who’s connected to Garrett,” Spencer concludes.
While Hanna and Aria drive through a deserted Rosewood, they see a scraggly-looking Lucas (Brendan Robinson) leave a building and get into his car. Hmm.
The next morning at the Hastings lakehouse, Spencer’s mom breaks the news that crews are investigating the empty grave. To cover their tracks, Spencer concocts a story for the group to relay when asked.
“Last night never happened.”
Will Aria stick with the plan? Who do you think snuck into the Hastings home?
