The actress, who is departing the ABC medical drama following a 13-episode run this season, has teamed with her writer-boyfriend Chris Case (Retired at 35) for a half-hour comedy set up at NBC.
The untitled multicamera project is loosely based on Walsh and Case’s life and revolves around a recently divorced father of two pre-teen boys who falls in love with a cop who has little experience with children. Meanwhile, his ex-wife is shacking up with his best friend.
Walsh and Case will executive produce the 20th Television comedy, which has received script orders at the network. Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan will also executive produce.

The project comes two weeks into Private Practice‘s sixth season, where Walsh will prepare wrap her run as Dr. Addison Montgomery, a role she originated on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.
Should the comedy go to pilot, there are no current plans for Walsh to star in the project.
