Drew and Jonathan Scott, the twins and hosts of HGTV’s Property Brothers, have acquired the brand and related IP rights to the Canadian home-renovation series from long-time producer Cineflix Media.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Toronto-based Cineflix, which developed the Property Brothers series and sold it to Canada’s W Network in 2011 and a year later to HGTV stateside, retains the worldwide distribution rights, excluding North America, to the brothers’ current and future series, including the upcoming HGTV show Property Brothers: Forever Home.
Drew and Jonathan Scott’s production shingle, Scott Brothers Entertainment, will produce all future Property Brothers series, which feature in HGTV marathon runs, while Cineflix will have an ongoing financial and distribution participation in future series under the franchise banner and share in ancillary revenue from the Property Brothers brand.
Besides Property Brothers: Forever Home, which bows May 29 on HGTV, the Scott Brothers have two more series in production or airing: TLC’s Nate & Jeremiah By Design and Make Your Move, a new show to star Dave and Kortney Wilson and set for HGTV Canada.
Details on additional new shows from Scott Brothers Entertainment will be announced later this year. Property Brothers was originally produced by Cineflix Productions and has another 40 episodes to air over the next year, with London-based Cineflix Rights to handle international sales.
“We started building Property Brothers together in 2011 and, thanks to Drew and Jonathan and our great team at Cineflix Productions, the brand has become one of the most-watched lifestyle shows on TV today,” Cineflix Media co-CEO Glen Salzman, said in a statement.
The Scott Brothers will executive produce the Property Brothers series and oversee all brand extensions. Other recent projects include Property Brothers at Home and Brother vs. Brother for HGTV and Leslie Jones’ Home for Facebook.
“We are so proud of the Property Brothers brand we built with Cineflix. We are dedicated to continuing to cultivate this series and to create great content like it with talent that audiences love and feel inspired by,” Jonathan Scott said in a statement.
