It’s time for some delicious pineapple.
Psych stayed true to its fans, announcing the season seven premiere date via a video posted on the show’s official Facebook page Wednesday morning. James Roday, Dule Hill, Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson announced that the longest-running USA Network comedy would return … wait for it … on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at 10 p.m. It was originally expected to have a fall premiere.
During the new 16-episode season, Psych will reach the 100th episode milestone and air a two-hour musical, which was confirmed during the show’s Comic-Con panel this past summer.
Season seven will explore Gus’ (Hill) personal life, including the appearance of his girlfriend (guest star Parminder Nagra) which will cause ripples with his friendship with Shawn (Roday), and will feature upcoming nuptials for one of the main characters. Other guest stars include Jeffrey Tambor as Juliet’s step-father, John Kapelos, WWE’s Big Show, Garcelle Beauvais, Katy Mixon and returning guest stars Cybill Shepherd and Kristy Swanson.
The pivotal 100th episode will pay homage to the 1985 film Clue, reuniting original cast members Christopher Lloyd, Lesley Ann Warren and Martin Mull. Guest stars in the episode will also include Garrett Morris, Steve Valentine and Tears for Fears’ Curt Smith. The two-hour musical, simply called Psych: The Musical, will feature original songs and appearances by Barry Bostwick, Brooke Lyons and Anthony Rapp.
