FOXRaising Hope is coming to an end.
Fox announced Monday that the fourth season of the comedy starring Lucas Neff, Martha Plimpton and Garrett Dillahunt will be its last.
The comedy, which was moved to Fridays this season, will end its run with an hourlong farewell on Friday, April 4 at 9 p.m.

“On behalf of myself, Greg Garcia and Raising Hope’s amazing cast and crew, I would like to thank our audience for tuning in and supporting us over the last four seasons,” EP/showrunner Mike Mariano said in a statement. “We planned our season four finale with this possibility in mind, and hope our loyal fans enjoy the way we’ve chosen to say goodbye to the Chances and to Natesville. Thanks again, and we’ll see you in syndication.”
The decision to cancel the series comes days after Fox renewed the bulk of its veteran fare, with comedies The Mindy Project, New Girl and rookie Brooklyn Nine-Nine already locked up for 2014-15, joining dramedy Glee, Sleepy Hollow and animated entry Bob’s Burgers.
“Getting to know and love the Chance family on Raising Hope has been a sweet, hilarious ride,” said Kevin Reilly, chairman of Entertainment and Joe Earley, chief operating officer at Fox Broadcasting Co. “Thanks to the incredibly talented cast — along with Greg, Mike and the entire crew — for making us laugh for four fantastic seasons.”
Garcia (The Millers, My Name Is Earl) created the series and exited the comedy from 20th Century Fox Television ahead of season four after he inked an overall deal with CBS Television Studios. Mariano took over for season four, when Fox moved the series from its Tuesday comedy block to Fridays as the network attempted to bring in male viewers with rookies Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Dads.
In its move to Fridays, Raising Hope has been among the softer broadcast net performers on the less competitive night. Season-to-date, the show has a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers — after seven days of DVR lift.
Meanwhile, cast members including Neff and Dillahunt have both had multiple pilot offers so far this season.
Meanwhile, the fate of freshman comedies Dads, Enlisted and Surviving Jack have yet to be determined. Decisions on the future of those series will be made closer to Fox’s upfront presentation in May and likely depend on ratings as well as how the network’s pilot crop fares.
