Ray Liotta is getting In With the Devil at Apple TV+.
The Emmy winner and Goodfellas star has joined Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser in the limited series from creator Dennis Lehane. The six-episode drama is based on the book In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by James Keene and Hillel Levin.
The book tells the story of Jimmy Keene (Egerton), the son of a Chicago cop who winds up in prison. A few months into his sentence, the lawyer who prosecuted his case approaches Jimmy with a deal: Coax a confession out of a fellow inmate who’s a suspected serial killer and he can go free. The series will explore the intimate relationship between two prisoners and the lengths that people will go to in order to seek redemption — if true absolution is even possible. Liotta will play “Big Jim,” Jimmy’s father.
In With the Devil is produced by Apple Studios. Lehane (Mystic River, HBO’s The Outsider) is adapting the book and will executive produce with director Michaël R. Roskam (The Drop, Berlin Station), Egerton, Richard Plepler via his Eden Productions; Bradley Thomas, Dan Friedkin, and Ryan Friedkin of Imperative Entertainment; and Alexandra Milchan, Scott Lambert, Kary Antholis and author Keene.
Liotta is coming off The Many Saints of Newark, a Sopranos prequel feature film from David Chase. His recent credits also include Marriage Story, NBC’s Shades of Blue and Netflix’s Hubie Halloween. He’s repped by Gersh, Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Viewpoint.
