Real Housewives fans know the drill once one of the series wraps its season. There’s always speculation that one, two, and sometimes all the cast members from a given show from the franchise won’t be returning. Now, as The Real Housewives of New York City has wrapped its fourth season, rumors are spreading that Jill Zarin is contemplating leaving the show.
POLL: ‘Real Housewives of New York’: Who Should Move Upstate?
According to the Huffington Post, the NYC textile maven was overheard at a restaurant discussing her possible departure from the Bravo series with husband, Bobby Zarin. From the article’s sources, it seems that she’s thinking about leaving the show to spend more time on her growing businesses.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked about the article’s statement that Zarin wanted out of her two-year contract with Bravo, her manager, Darren Bettencourt of The Representatives in New York City, says the housewife is “unable to comment on the details of her contract.” He did send us a statement that somewhat addresses the chatter.
“Jill was the very first Housewife cast on The Real Housewives of New York City and is grateful to be part of a pop-culture phenomenon that is one of the highest rated docu-series on television,” the statement reads. “Jill is grateful to Shed Media US and Bravo for opening the door to some amazing opportunities.”
Since the series began airing in 2008, Zarin has expanded beyond the family business, Zarin Fabrics. According to the statement, the Jill Zarin Home Collection of bedding is available at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Her newly launched shape wear line, Skweez, will be available at national department stores in October, and she’s been working on expanding her business into other product categories that will launch early next year.
She has also made guest appearances on other shows, including USA Network’s White Collar, and Animal Planet’s It’s Me or the Dog — both episodes performed well in the ratings.
“In addition, Jill has been able to promote her philanthropy work through the Housewives series and none of this would have been possible without Bravo,” the statement goes on to say. “While no decisions have been made about next season, Jill will always consider herself part of the Bravo family that helped change the landscape of television.”
Likewise, Bravo has yet to officially announce the New York series’ renewal for a fifth season nor whether any of the cast members have been invited back.
While Zarin, who co-wrote the book, Secrets of a Jewish Mother, looks to expand her fortune in the lifestyle retail industry, other housewives are branching out with their own books, cookbooks, and music releases.
Bethenny Frankel, Zarin’s former friend and cast mate, may have done the best job of spinning her Real Housewives fame into dividends. She received her own Bravo show, appeared on ABC’s inaugural Skating with the Stars, and brokered a distribution deal for her Skinny Girl line of liquor products in a reported $120 million deal.
Zarin is repped theatrically by Jamie Harris and Brianna Barcus of Clear Talent Group.
