Suit-ing Up
Suits star Gina Torres has signed with 42West for publicity. The Firefly alum will topline the untitled spinoff of Aaron Korsh’s legal drama, which USA has picked up to series.
Singing a New Tune
Veteran music agent Joel Roman has joined ICM Partners in its Los Angeles offices. Prior to spending the last six years at Paradigm, he founded and ran the soundtrack/crossover department at William Morris for 21 years.
“Joel brings another client-centric service to our agency in an area that is of tremendous interest to our clients,” ICM music department heads Steve Levine, Rob Prinz and Mark Siegel said in a joint statement. “His proven track record over an extended period of time makes him a perfect fit for us as we continue to rapidly and strategically grow our music and concerts division.”

Screenwriters Daniel Persitz and Devon Kliger, who wrote Hasbro Studios’ as-yet-unproduced CG hybrid Furby film, have signed with APA. Their spec Key of Genius, the true story of musical prodigy Derek Paravicini, who also is blind and severely autistic, landed on the 2017 Black List. Persitz and Kliger continue to be repped by Gotham Group and Morris Yorn.
Joining the Firm
Attorney Andy Miller has joined the law firm Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard in the Beverly Hills office. During his tenure as a staff writer for Friday Night Lights, he earned two WGA nominations and won a Peabody Award. The 21-year industry vet (he also is a producer and SAG member) also has served as in-house counsel for the Disney Channel, TBS and TNT, and has provided legal services for The Walking Dead, Good Behavior, The Detour, Tarantula, Wrecked, Shake It Up and Make Your Mark.
