Former NBA basketball player Rick Fox and Canadian CrossFit champion Lucas Parker will both receive Maple of Excellence Awards at the 2015 Maple Awards, which will take place July 1 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The inaugural awards program, presented by the Academy of Canadians in Sports & Entertainment – Los Angeles, will be hosted by Canadian actress Lauren Ash of Comedy Central’s new series Another Period.
The Maple of Excellence honorees were chosen by the ACISE-LA committee for their accomplishments in representing Canada in the United States.
Fox, who will receive the Maple of Excellence for Outstanding Athlete/Actor Crossover Award, has played for the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was part of three NBA championships. His acting credits include the current release Dope as well as HBO’s Oz and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns.
Parker, who will receive the 2015 Maple of Excellence for Outstanding Athlete Award, was 2015 West CrossFit Regional Champion, a member of Team Canada at the 2014 CrossFit Invitational and is a five-time CrossFit Games competitor.
Other presenters taking part in the evening will include actress Erin Karpluk, actors Kenneth Mitchell and Jonathan Keltz, on-air personality Jillian Barberie and coach Josh Gallegos.
