Ricky Gervais says he’s not sorry for his pointed jabs at Hollywood A-listers during last Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.
“I’m sorry if they were offended but I’m not sorry for anything I said,” Gervais told Piers Morgan during an interview Wednesday that will air Thursday on Morgan’s CNN program.
“I don’t think I did anything wrong,” he continued. “Those were, like, jibes at these people, and I’m sure they’ve got a sense of humor.”
Among Gervais’ more searing insults during the annual Hollywood kudo-fest: introducing Bruce Willis as “Ashton Kutcher‘s dad” and suggesting that the team that air brushed the poster for Sex and the City 2 should get a Globe for “special effects.”
During the CNN interview, Gervais also joked that his longtime girlfriend Jane Fallon suggested he beat a hasty retreat after he completed what is sure to be his last Globes hosting gig.
“She said, I’ve got the fast car,” said Gervais. “Here’s the disguise and I have 2 tickets to Cuba.”
Also on Piers Morgan Tonight Thursday, Gervais said, “It’s not my job to worry about what people think of me, that’s the job of a politician. I don’t care what people think of me.”
“They hired me for a job, he added “and if they didn’t want me, they shouldn’t have hired me.”
