CBS has promoted Robert Gifford to oversee day-to-day live programming for the company’s streaming news service, CBSN.
“Already an integral part of the CBSN team, Rob brings an experienced and steady hand as we continue to grow rapidly,” CBS News senior executive producer Nancy Lane announced in a memo Friday that was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. Gifford previously served as a senior producer and oversaw evening programming.
In late July, it was announced internally that executive producer Albert Lewitinn, who led CBSN on a day-to-day basis, was leaving the company. He joined MTV to serve as head of live programming and executive producer of the rebooted show TRL.
Before joining CBS in November 2016, Gifford was a producer for the Bloomberg Politics show With All Due Respect. He’s also worked as a producer for MSNBC and Fox News.
