Jackass star Ryan Dunn passed away just as his career was continuing to gain momentum. The reality star had several small indie roles in the can and a co-hosting gig on the G4 show Proving Ground. Now, it looks like the show is being pulled from air with its return undecided for now.
A G4 spokesperson tells EW “the show is off the schedule … until we discuss next steps.”
The show, which tests video game stunts and movie stunts in the real world, premiered on June 14 with new episodes scheduled to air until the news of the star’s death broke on Monday.
“All of us at G4 are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic news that Ryan Dunn has passed away,” a network statement reads. “Ryan’s comedic wit and signature no-holds-barred approach made him an incredible talent and his work as host of G4’s Proving Ground was flawless. Ryan will be missed dearly by his legion of fans and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Police reports reveal Dunn was killed in a fiery car crash at 2:38 a.m. Monday in Pennsylvania. He and a passenger died as a result of injuries sustained when his porsche crashed into a tree. A preliminary investigation reveals that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. At this time, the investigation doesn’t show that driving under the influence contributed to the accident.
