Fox comedy Glee will not be doing a Justin Bieber-themed episode, according to creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy.
TV Line and Deadline.com had previously claimed that the show’s producers were planning an episode that would feature the cast performing a number of the teen pop sensation’s hits. In an interview with PerezHilton.com, Murphy shot down the news reports.
“Glee is NOT doing a Justin Bieber tribute episode,” he said. “We are not doing any more of those this season. Those are reserved for artists with a big catalogue, ala Madonna and Britney, etc.”
Murphy added that the show does, however, have plans to include Bieber in an upcoming episode, albeit on a smaller scale.
“We are doing an episode where Sam (Chord Overstreet) sings a Bieber song to win Quinn (Dianna Agron) back … and copies his hairstyle, etc.,” he revealed. “But it’s a small part of a big episode that has a LOT of other things going on.”
Glee returns with its highly anticipated Super Bowl episode Feb. 6.
